There’s something so special about a small wedding. With fewer people, there’s often more time to slow down, be present and really enjoy the people around you. The little moments become just as important as the big ones, and the whole day can feel incredibly personal. That’s exactly what I loved about photographing Zoe and Will’s intimate wedding at The Location House.
A wedding that felt completely like them
From the moment I arrived, there was something really lovely about the atmosphere of the day. Small, relaxed and full of meaning, it felt less about following a traditional wedding-day checklist and more about spending time together and celebrating with the people who mattered most. And honestly, those are some of my favourite weddings to photograph. When a wedding is intimate, I can really focus on what's happening around me, the looks, the laughter, the hugs and all those little moments that happen without anyone even noticing.
The Location House
The Location House made such a beautiful backdrop for Zoe and Will's day. I loved being able to photograph the different spaces and use the surroundings naturally, rather than making everything feel overly posed or staged. My approach to wedding photography is always to give couples the space to enjoy their day while I quietly document what's happening.I don't want you to spend your wedding day feeling like you're constantly having your photograph taken. Instead, I want you to look back at your gallery and remember what it actually felt like to be there.
The beauty of the in-between moments
Some of my favourite photographs from Zoe and Will's wedding are the ones that aren't necessarily perfectly posed. The movement. The laughter. The little interactions. The moments where someone is walking, turning, hugging or simply caught up in what is happening around them. And yes, sometimes that means a little bit of blur. But I absolutely love that. There's something about a blurred photograph that can bring back the feeling of a moment in a way that a perfectly posed photograph sometimes can't. You can almost feel the movement. You can imagine the laughter. It feels like a memory.
Photographing the moments that matter
When I photograph a wedding, I'm always looking beyond the obvious moments. Of course I'll photograph the ceremony, the portraits and all the things you'd expect to see in your wedding gallery. But I'm also looking for everything happening around those moments. The way someone looks at you when they think you're not watching. A family member laughing in the background. A quick hug. A hand reaching for another hand. The tiny moments that might only last a second. Those are the photographs that often become some of the most treasured.
Zoe & Will
What I loved about Zoe and Will's wedding was how personal and intimate it felt. There wasn't a need for hundreds of guests or a packed schedule to make the day meaningful. It was about the two of them, the people closest to them and celebrating this next chapter together. And as a photographer, being trusted to document something that personal is something I never take for granted. I want couples to look back at their photographs years from now and not just see what their wedding looked like, but remember exactly how it felt. The excitement. The happiness. The people they love. The little moments in between. And sometimes, the slightly blurry ones too. Because those imperfect, fleeting photographs can be some of the most beautiful memories of all.
